This was really quite intriguing, probably not to everybody's taste, but if you're at all interested in history or the industrial development of the Netherlands, then this is riveting. It's also kind of cool to say you've been in a working windmill. We came as...More

This is an exact replica of an old wood-cutting windmill, and it’s great how traditional methods are still being used today! It runs on a very simple engineering concept (like the pistons in an engine) and you can actually see logs being trimmed while a...More

This windmill is still functioning but probably for the tourists. I didn’t quite get any other real purpose for it. The film about history is interesting.

Het Jonge Schaap a wooden wind powered sawmill that is located in   Zaanse Schans. This sawmill is a wonderful working example of 17th century art that have brought the Golden Age in the Netherlands. The mill is open every day

This is working lumber windmill as it used to be done during old days in Holland. Its interesting to see how wind power was tamed to do heavy work of wood chopping. It costs 4 euro for one time entry to the mill.

This is an up close experience of a real working sawmill. It was built in the traditional style to produce sawn timber for all of the historic windmills and other buildings in this precinct. Upon entry you can watch a video of its' construction, and...More

We pay 4 Euros for a visit that only took 5 minutes. We wanted to see the windmills from the second floor, but it was not possible to go there. Not happy with the visit to this windmill.

Well worth the €4 entry fee. Amazing to see the windmill in action and how it works. Wood being cut whilst you watch.
