very sweet old town worth the trip, you have a central street full of shops and a couple of nice squares which are populated with restaurants and pubs. The gate is a nice place to enter the city.

Remarkable old town wall, makes almost a complete circle. In remarkably good condition. Wall and the buildings in the old section are exceptionally well preserved and the details are beautiful.

These are actually one in the same structure...one gate for water and one for land. You will end up seeing both together anyway.

Don't get fooled by the train station or the business buidings on the outskirts of Amersfoort. If you venture into the city center, you'll discover a charming town with obvious medieval roots and historic buildings all over.

The well preserved gates are being used every day as pedestrians and cyclists whiz through them and vehicles go around them. We enjoyed the cool brick passage ways on a warm summer day.

Walking through the gate into the shopping area is like experiencing a moment in time of an older age. Hire a bicycle and take a ride through the old town, it is will worth the experience

First visit to a wonderful historic town with many preserved historic buildings, towers and best of all CITY GATES (circa 1420). Wonderful old city walking tours. Easy walks. Can't get lost. Many good restaurants and bars
