Breathtaking!

Both in the climb of the 207 steps and the panoramic view. With no stopping places this climb can't really be taken in phases

This beautiful Abbey Tower of Long John is situated right on the centre of Middelburg and is a great place from where to view the town. It is easy to spot from anywhere in the town.

A steep climb with many stairs, but not all the way to the top. We ended up almost on the top, as the last section of stairs was not available (and never is, I would think). There was little exposition, but the most impressive thing was the view. For every window a guidance is present to show what you are... More

Walking through Middelburg to show my son where I grew up we came across the Lange Jan and decided to go up for a quick view. The 5 Euros were well worth it. The climb up is a bit strenuous so make sure all in your party and in decent shape and not too claustrophobic for the very tight spiral... More

The view was really nice from the enclosed observation room after 207 stairs (winding and steep). However you only get to about 2/3 of the tower height, I had expected that you good go at least to one of the top outer balconies, that was a small disappointment.

Middelburg has some beautiful old buildings and the Abdij Lange Jan is no exception! The traditional architecture with attention to detail and the same coloured motifs as other buildings in the region is fabulous. The attached church is a bizarre but quite beautiful combination of old and new architecture, and the tower itself is simply very old and elegant in... More

Apart from NOT being a college, which is now unusually placed in The Stadhuis named The Roosevelt University ( part of the Utrecht University) The Abbey and its surrounding buildings reminds us of Oxford 's Abbeys and Universities in small outlay. An absolute real must to walk alround and visit, which cannot be missed.

Beautiful views, forgot my bag upstairs. Considered it gone, but after a quick phone call the organ player was willing to throw it out the window.
