The tower of the Nieuwe Kerk looms over the main square and the rest of the town. The church itself is typically austere, except for the lavish gilded monument to William of Orange in the middle. You have to pay admission, but you get lots...More

This was a highlight of our visit to the Netherlands. The architecture and history in this one building is amazing to see and learn about. A definite must see for those desiring to learn more about the country. And, if possible, climb the tower to...More

The church is located in the center of the city on a market, across from the town hall. Because of the shops and restaurants on the market there are always people about, giving it a good atmosphere. I can recommend to go up the tower...More

Definitely pay the fee to go inside both the Nieuwe Kerk and the Oude Kerk. Both are impressive and fascinating. Unfortunately when I visited the tower was being renovated and wasn't open to the public, but I would have loved to go up in it.

It's a beautifull building to watch from the outside, but to go in you must pay an entrance fee. It's a shame you can not enter a place of worship for free.

The Nieuwe Church has close associations with the Dutch Royal family and the history of the modern state of the Netherlands with its Crypt housing the tombs of the Dutch Kings and Queens. There is a lot of information in English throughout the Church and...More

This is a truly beautiful church that is definitely worth a visit. I wouldn't recommend it for people who are nervous about wooden spiral step staircases as this one is pretty steep, but the view from the top is worth it. It's pretty windy from...More
