Worth a day in Dordrecht.

Fine restaurant included and a pleasant building to stay in. Special attention for the garden. Collection through the ages of fine paintings of Dutch masters

Beautiful museum filled with some renowned Dutch masters. Once an abbey and asylum, the building has been adapted to house beautiful paintings and art from famous Dutch artists, including Rembrandt. The museum has large salons filled with art. One thing that was a little different was that some of the paintings were displayed too high on the wall to really... More

Dordrecht is the oldest town of the Netherlands and it has a very nice museum with contemporary art, but of course also a lot of old Dutch masters. So if you want to browse without lots of people standing in front of you, this is the place to be! Only approx 1 hr drive from Amsterdam.

We visited the museum mainly for the glass, but found the Dutch masters just as interesting. The picture labels give interesting insights in a readable fashion, but as noted by another reviewer, are only in Dutch. The building and gardens are atmospheric in themselves and provide a pleasant place to sit, even if just to enjoy a drink on the... More

I enjoyed my visit to this museum, at the entrance in the garden the had some funny statues... (made from a.o. glass). Inside they have paintings that date back from the 16th century to the present, all Dutch painters (so you'll have to like that). When I was there today they mixed the old with new glass art... a very... More

Some excellent pictures, but many enigmas as not one of the picture labels had anything other than Dutch language.

This place is worth a visit. Make sure you purchase the Combo ticket that allows you entry to 2 other museums for 3 euros extra. This is best described as an Art Gallery with some wonder pieces of Dutch art works. Dordrecht had many grand painters over the years. Van Gogh had visited the area and some had been trained... If your in the neighborhood, go and have a look in this surprisingly nice museum with interesting exhibitions. It's situated in a old building with a even so nice garden. Great to be on a sunny day, as is a coffee and/or lunch in the restaurant

Situated in a very nice historical building at the edge of the nice historical center. In about 2 hours you can tour the well laid out collection.
