Museum Volkenkunde is a museum about people housed in a historic building just five minutes' walk from Leiden's central station. A huge totem pole greets visitors as they enter the museum through the garden. Museum Volkenkunde presents regularly changing exhibitions and its permanent display features objects from eight different cultural regions. Objects that all have a story to tell about humankind.

This museum is very closed to the Leiden University, and is not far from the Central Station. My friend took me there, and we spent about 40 mins looking around. It is a quite nice museum, but I wouldn't say it is a must visit....More

Nice exposition on contempory developments in drawings, cartoons, fashion with link to the past. It gives an excellent insight in the Japanese cilture, hihgly recommended to pay a visit.

The museum is situated a short walk from the Central station in Leiden . Nice building but I must admit I saw more interesting museums. We were heading for the Cool Japan exhibition and it was a bit of a disappointment. It was very crowded...More

Such a nice ethnicity museum with a good explanation for the origin of places, and also provides informative time series of a certain place, specifically in Asia, Africa, and South America. Very attractive for kids, too. Worth to visit when you are in Leiden :)

its surprised​ me when i found Indonesia gallery in the museum. the location is easy to find, leas then 100m from the leiden central station. i like the surrounding, beautiful canal to relax after exploring the museum

This museum is well worth a visit. Currently thei have a fantastic exhibition of items from Japan including a robot that children and adults will enjoy interacting with. The Inuit collection is also extremely interesting.
