The Pieterskerk in Leiden is a lust for the eye to visit. It has a beautiful Hagerbeer organ and it contains a lot of history. The parents of Rembrand van Rijn married here, and a painter like Jan Steen is burried here. Also pastor John...More

This is a huge, dark and cheerless former church now used for functions and concerts. Approached via the cafe, be prepared to get mixed information from the (student?) cafe staff and the main box office. Having been told it would be open, I arrived to...More

As the church that the American Mayflower Pilgrims worshipped at, I was a little overwhelmed walking in. There is certainly a sense of majesty and amazing history in this building. The docent who spoke with me was very knowledgable and had great stories and anecdotes...More

Walking into the immense empty space is an overwhelming experience. A booklet as given on loan to help you find your way, but it can be bought afterwards. The church has a long history, well-preseved gravestones, interesting names and lots of beautifully written golden admonitions...More

Really enjoyed our visit as part of a walk around Leiden. We stayed an hour in this really large former church. There is a small restaurant there also. It is historically interesting as it has been there since 1120.

Again this church is not open, but is it a church? Walking around the building, the architecture is nice. And very happy that the white church was open to the public.

There isn't a whole lot to see here, it was a church but is not anymore. We couldn't find the entrance and realized it was through the café. They use the' monument' for functions which they were preparing for the day we came. The numbered...More

It is the usual setting for concerts, cultural events, dinners, banquets, presentations, exhibitions and many more. It is an impressive historic site for a venue of an intimate dinner to conferences up to a considerably large number of guests. The cafe was our entrance to...More

It's a bit interesting as this was built in stages doo is a mix of different materials. It's not a very ornate church, which is explained in the info (available in different languages). I was a bit miffed at having to pay an extra 3...More
