Beautiful entry gate from the 1600s. I took this photo at 1700 hours in mid-July to get the sun in the right position.

There is not much to see here despite its historical significance. We noticed a small hotel nearby, a playground and the Molen de Put. Worth a quick stop for a photo. This section of Leiden is very charming with its small picturesque alleyways, museums, churches...More

The Morspoort is a gate that gives access to the old city of Leiden from the southwest side. Straight behind it is the Morsstraat with many nice bars and restaurants. Straight next to it is a boutique hotel in an historic building.

Morspoort is interesting to see and walk past, but it is simply a historic gate. After a few minutes looking at the gate, you are ready to continue your walk.

Impressive gate on the way to see one of the two famous windmill of the city. Majestic in the structure and very colorful, I consider it as one of the symbols of this nice city.

This is a historic entrance, and nice for a photo stop. To its right in the canal is a charming windmill. The drawbridge is a fine example of Dutch engineering. There are couple of restaurants around this place.

The Moorsport is one of two remaining gates into Leiden. It's nice to visit and to look at, so it's worth fitting into your trip, but you don't need much time there. It's really just a gate to look at! Conveniently located too.

This is one of two remaining gates in the old city walls, so it gives you a sense of what the city's fortifications once looked like. Area around it is currently a bit disheveled, as there is construction on-going for a park that will eventually...More

The city centre of Leiden is picturesque and well worth a visit. We meandered through the street and down the dykes enjoying the cools breeze and the sunshine. The city has a chilled vibe about it which makes you want to kick back and enjoy...More
