Built from 1200-1400 this church is transitional. The transept and choir are Romanesque with Gothic elements and the remainder is Flamboyant Gothic. Some of the vaulting is quite stunning. Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1529-1569) is buried here and his funeral plaque is still in place.

Small and cozy church. Well known for its paintings and interior. From the exterior, you would not expect something as nice as it is.

It is a beautiful church. It has exceptional architecture. I was impressed by its size and tranquility that dominates. Outstanding were huge columns of the church, dressed in natural flowers. There are many impressive cathedrals in Brussels, but do not miss this one.

This is such a wonderful chapel and the pulpit is one of the most ornate and beautifully designed wall mounted pulpits. It is not just an attraction, there are regular services through the week in French, Spanish, English, Dutch and a couple other languages. The schedule is posted for visitors. During visitor hours it is wonderful quiet place to sit... More

Visiting this church it could be a pleasant experience. Wondering around the city we just got in front of this splendid gothic style church ... well, why not get in and give a look. Anyway the inside is quite good, lots of paintings an other important works of art, well worth a visit.

This church which is just north of Sablon Square was begun in 1210. It is a large Gothic church with a plain and beautiful interior. Peter Brugel the Elder is buried here and there is monument to him in the church. There are medieval stone statues, a beautiful carved pulpit and lovely stained glass. Around the corner is the last... More

We, like others, found this church by accident. It was small, and quaint. On the way out we picked up a brochure that told the history. Quite impressive! We sat quietly and prayed for a bit. It had a beautiful manger set up and the artwork is beautiful! Well worth a visit, and the ladies working in the office were... More

This is not on a main walkway, found it by accident while lost! It was a nice peaceful church where we could sit and regroup. Worth getting lost to find it.

To tell the truth, I spend about 4 hours to find this church, using paper map and Garmin navigator. Problem was, that on both maps this exactly English name was missing, and there are several Notre Dame churches in Brussels center. And I visited 2 or 3 churches, before I found "Kerk Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-ter-Kapelle", which was "Notre Dame de la Chapelle".... More
