I had heard that this area of Brussels wasn't meant to be nice or safe but as our hotel was located in this area we had no choice but to be in this location every day. In all I never found this to be dangerous, while I never stayed out to late here I did walk all around it in... More

I am a strong guy in his early thirties and went for a run in Anderlecht. The area is dirty and dangerous. Stay away. I was about to go into the metro station alone and I had a gang of agressive black guys intimidating me. The place is a mix between Africa and Northern Africa, but without any kind of... More

Do not go near this area if you are a tourist. i stayed at the Van Belle hotel which was good but the streets around the hotel are unsafe. My partner had his wallet pick pocketed on the way back to the hotel. The following morning walking to the Station I had my gold necklace riped from my neck by... More

Not a place where you feel comfortable... Insecurity, tags, squats. Another example of the multiculturality in Brussel.

Really not a place to be a visitor at all. Eevery city has it's bad neighbourhoods - this is Brussels' worst. Go there at your peril. There are parts of this neighbourhood that even the armed Belgian police avoid. I have had reason to go their twice and on both occasion it was very intimidating and on one we were... More

Rue Wayez is open on Sundays (all types of stores). Westland Shopping is open until 7:30pm with a lot of ships and a grocery store too. Erasmus museum and gardens are beautiful. Bike riding along the canal. Walks around the Pede area ponds. A working windmill. Restaurants like: La Brouette, Chez Rene, La Tribune, Chalet de la Pede, Alain Cornelis... More

As an Anderlecht local, I agree that the city has it's rough spots. However, it has a few hidden gems that are worth while. The locals are friendly and I feel safer walking around in my neighbourhood Cureghem than I do when I walk around in the city centre of Brussels.

Anderlecht has a few museums, including Cantillon, but this is a rough area of a Brussels. It is not a place to get lost or otherwise wander without a specific destination, and Anderlecht is best avoided altogether at night. Unless your destination is a museum or Midi station, there is no reason for a tourist to go there. This neighborhood... More
