This was a nice excursion for our family to tour an piece of the history from old Brussels. The Porte de Hal provides an interesting history of how the building was used over the years - as a part of the wall around Brussels and then as a prison. Well worth a visit - interesting to imagine what it must... More

Great experience with lots to see though you can do it all in an hour so no time for boredom to set in! We saw armour and arrow slits; gargoyles and a wonderful central spiral staircase. Very exciting for a 9 year old and Grandma enjoyed it too. The stairs were not too taxing (as they can be in quite... More

This is the only Brussels city gate that survives from the medieval period. Inside is a permanent collection of medieval artifacts, including armor and items belonging to city guilds. Interesting, but not extensive. The focal point of the interior is the circular staircase, which is beautiful. All signage is in French and Dutch, so get the free audio guide if... More

A great way to spend an hour or so, going through levels of the building and viewing the displays. Audio available in English.

Chilled out with some friends for a few hours in this park instead of waiting in the train station close by, definitely would return, lovely spot.

I lived in Brussels for 34 years but just discovered this museum last year! Nice collection but also very good historical explanations about the history of the town and of its protecting walls. It definitely deserves a visit!

Formerly a part of fort, this building looks like it was taken from a fairytale, it is really lovely. There are two small parks next to it, adding a bit spark. Loved it!

My Wife and I visited this place while were walking around that area and it was a nice surprise, the place was empty but the museum itself is worth taking the time to visit. Not expensive, the audio tours is easy to follow and the building and the pieces of history are interesting enough to keep you and some kids... More

Recommended if perhaps you have an early afternoon train from Gare Du Midi. Gives a good taste of medieval Brussels history, but no more than a taste.

The structure is a circular tower with a spiral staircase in the center. We worked our way upwards. The first few floors deal with Brussels history. There are displays of the regalia that the guilds carried in the city processions and an elaborate painting (really a diagram) showing one of the processions taking place. Other floors have display of medieval... More
