Good for a quick photo op. The plaza out front of the church had a lot of drunks and bums when I was there, and there were police in front of the church.

This is a great site to visit, unrushed with a buzzy square outside filled with bars, bistro's and restaurants. The church itself is magnificent, stained glass windows, elegant period paintings, beautiful architecture and features. The square has its own Metro station, so very very easy to get to.

This is a nice place to pop into to see a church of its time period. Heated so a nice break from the cold.

St Catherine is my favourite neighbourhood in Brussels. The fish market, Nordzee & ABC poisonniere are fantastic for fresh fish to take home or eat standing up with a glass of wine (recommend the fish soup!). St Catherine church is beautiful - and there are tonnes of restaurants to chose from - most of which do not need reservations (although... More

This square and the surrounding area of Danseart offers great options for food and sights. There are many outdoor eateries that start jumping on Friday and Saturday evenings.

If you have never seen or imagined pissoirs next to a church, well, Ste. Catherine will give you a new perspective on Brussels' possibilities. Highly advertised as one of the liveliest spots in the city, the square and its surroundings look poorly maintained and dirty. On the other hand, if you are desperately looking for a bar or restaurant opened... More

The facade of the Ste. Catherine church is impressive, but usually overlooked by passers-by usually heading for the nearby restaurant area. But one should take time to stop and look around at this place, which I find fascinating.
