I hate to leave a negative review but this place is a mess. One of the most bizarre and odd museums I've been to with a mish-mash of art scattered about in random order. No rhyme... read more

Totally disgusted with the price, the state and very minimal amount of art in this beautiful building of Horta. The main exhibition was of the artist Pitxot, and, presumablely to accommodate his work, all kinds of sculptures and statues were just shoved into the foyer in a totally random way. These might have been beautiful if at least placed together... More

We where lucky to visit the temporary Pitxot-Dali exhibition. It was impressive to find it in this little pearl of a museum.

The building from outside doesn't look great. It looks better inside but the walls could be painted in lighter colours. The entry was free. There are couple of interesting paintings and drawings. If this museum was in Paris or London I would be called "hidden jewel".

When I first came to Belgium 25 years ago, I read somewhere that the Musée des Beaux Arts in Tournai was second only to the one in Brussels, and finally, after all these years, we went there. I had read reviews here saying how rather strange it is, and I have to agree that they don't really make the most... More

The museum is housed in a purpose built building designed by Horta, and is indeed very pleasant inside. However, the building is not used maximum effect and could do with some renovation. The work of arts are thematically displayed, which is a bit random, as it is a small and eclectic collection. However, it does house a very nice collection... More

Ok; so the walls are crazy bright colors and there is a huge resin hippo with butterfly wings attached (think Fantasia) suspended from the ceiling in the main rotunda. This is a mix of art as stated in other reviews but there are some significant works displayed. There are several Durers,Manet, Monet, Delecroix and others well worth the trip and... More

A must visit for the strange experience. Very low entrance fee, so buy a ticket and be amazed. It's a mix of art, with some nice pieces of Manet, Van Gogh, Rubens etc in a strange museum with lack of presentation skills. The museum was reorganising/setting up an (new/temporary?) exhibition but we could still visit. A lot of pieces of... More

The building is a magnificent art-nouveau building, purpose designed as a museum but it can use some renovation. The collection is a strange mix in a bizarre presentation. There are 3 impressionist paintings that catched my eye.

if there is a manual how to mess up a museam they followed it to the letter. there are for instance big size paintings from Louis Gallait but tne middle of hall is blocked by a mysterious black square in order to go prevent you from overseeing the whole painting. Also some red painted walls give a awkward feeling when... More
