Lots to see, very interesting to learn about the history of the coal mine. They also do regular events at Christmas and throughout the year.

There is plenty of things to do from a pleasant walk to visiting the museum section to actually going down a mine shaft and walking around a coal face. There is an age limit on who can go down the mine shaft so you may want to phone in advance. There is a very nice canteen eating area, which can... More

A really good time for the kids can be had but you'll probably find that you will struggle to fill in the whole day here. Staff are friendly, the tour guides are good and even yourself will find something interesting to see and maybe do. All in all a good experience.

Ideal for a family or just an interesting day out, they have an are for children to explore and play and a nice little cafe to have a spot of tea or a bite to eat. The underground tour of course is the crown jewel of this attraction, all the tours are taken by ex miners (at least until for... More

Team building exercise with work. Including a short tour underground. Fantastic tour guide Brian. After this would certainly consider taking the children/grandchildren for the full tour and museum visit. Also helped that we won the exercise.

Family day out with daughter and 3 young grandsons. The exhibitions and whole site with play areas, ponies, machinery, and old pit structures were fascinating. The boys were thoroughly entertained and learned so much. Need to revisit so the adults can go underground and the children can travel on the train. Amazing place steeped in history of mining accidents, heroism... More

A fantastic way to spend a couple of hours 400 feet underneath Yorkshire. Our guide on this occasion was known as "Kebab" and really brought the underground experience to life. My third visit and certainly won't be my last.
