We are biased- we love the art of the Middle Ages. A tape tour would have completed the experience, but it was worth every penny of €5. Highlights included: the famous bird reliquary; a small stained glass window, featuring the Virgin with the tenderest of expressions; a painted panel with Christ sitting on the cross, forlornly awaiting his crucifixion; 800... If you are interested in very old religious art and in particular gold reliquaries and wooden carvings you will find this small museum worthwhile. It is situated within the city on the main shopping street. There is also interesting information about the building itself and its stucco exterior.

This is a small museum with the city of Namur. From outside, the museum does not attract any attention. However, it contains some of the finest medioval jewels I have ever seen. The richness of gold and gems and the quality of the details is impressive.

The Tresor is truly a reason to visit Namur. The jewels are an impressive example of middle age art. Also the stories related to this jewels are great; how they were protected from one conflict to the next one is very interesting. Unfortunately the museum is not very modern lacking of explanations or background information and by the way most... More

This remarkable treasure has been housed for a few years in Namur's Provincial Museum of Ancient Arts [see separate TripAdvisor entry]. It is one of those collections that really merits viewing, even if only for 30m out of a day trip, as the workmanship (and techniques) and beauty of the 13th century pieces is absolutely incredible, as well as rare.... Namur is not the most beautiful of cities, but is worth visiting for this museum alone - if you have a guide book more than a couple of years old, note the treasure is no longer housed in the convent but in a small civic museum. The treasure is quite outstanding, and worth quite a bit of time. The decoration... More

This is a must. You have to see this collection if you are in town. The details you can see in the works are worth cooling to Namur for itself. The collection is displayed in nice, new room.
