Good atmosphere

Welcoming staff and a good choice of beers. Seemed to be popular with the locals which is always a good sign. Nice for a pre dinner and/or after dinner drink !

Was looking for internet access, lunch and beers, and found all three in spades here. The spaghetti was hot and delicious, topped with a pile of cheese. And the beer was delicious. Chatted with the proprietor, Anthony, and got some tips to visit in our few hours in town. After learning that there is an elevator to the top of... More

Typical brown cafe. not the biggest range of belgian beers but had a couple of my favourites, Ghenste strop and Omer. Don't be put off by the bar being at the front, walk round the bar and you see the real Brown Cafe. service is first rate, prices are OK, the food though limited is good as well,.by the second... As my title says, great range of beers, good food, good views of sitting outside, great service and a good place to rest after a walk around the centre. Impressed as it was highly recommended.

Nice old pub close to the Belfort and Stadshal. Good selection of beer (as you would expect), friendly service - what more would you want? We made it our local for our 3 night stay.

In the centre of Ghent this is a lovely, relaxed small pub to enjoy the plethora of local Belgium beers. The walls are filled with beautiful black & white photos of local scenes. Basic food menu (looks like via microwave) of soups & spaghetti available. Pub wall has qwerky number board where regulars leave notes or coins as savings.

Popped in here to get out of the rain and realised that it was populated by lots of locals sitting around the bar. We ordered a chouffe beer which was delicious . We got talking to the bar man and a off duty chef from another venue and they were really helpful telling us where to go etc.

Family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids (age 15 and 13), on arrival in Ghent in evening, went looking for somewhere simple to eat after dining from North of London, and wandered into this pub. The clientele appeared local and gave us friendly nods and smile. Staff very friendly, and served us huge bowls of pasta Bolognese and... More

I like old things and this is the oldest cafe in Gent so I had to check it out. It's very unpretentious and they have a fantastic beer selection. The smoking hot bartender was very knowledgeable and recommended fantastic beers (try the Gruut Bruin - so good!). It's a local joint but both times we went there were a few... More

Great atmosphere and beers. I visit Gent one a year and I always make sure I stop by this pub. The service can be a bit slow though...
