St Michael's Church in Ghent is one of the smaller churches in the city. The interior of the church is quite beautiful and it has a nice array of stained glass windows.

This is one of the monumental churches in the historic centre of the city. It is now regularly open, and very much worth a visit. The church is rather monumental in scale, and the interior is very pleasant, although mostly not decorated. The main item to...More

Even though a lot of visitors limit their visit to the Big Tree in Gent (St. Baafs cathedral, Belfort and St. Nicolas church), The St Michaels church should be part of your visit list. Beautiful architecture and splendid works of art, this church is more...More

The building itself is a nice mixture of late gothic with it's typically high ceiling and arches, plus hints of eastern renaissance with it's domes. Inside, there's a good collection of artwork and of course a couple of Van Dyck. The pulpit is very distinctive....More

We stumbled across a free choral concert at 3pm on July 3rd sung by The Swindon Choral Society. It was charming and the acoustics were amazing.

Begun in the 11th century, the church wasn't finished until 1672. What a fine Gothic architecture! There is also great art by Anthony Van Dyck, Otto van Veen and Jan Boeckhorst.

This is actually a very large church and, although I have seen much better elsewhere, this is well worth visiting. From memory, it was open in the afternoons only when we were there

Apparently the oldest in the region, dating back to medieval times. Like many of the others I've visit, a church that is beautiful to behold.

The sandstone Roman Catholic Church by the side of St. Michael's Bridge was really attractive. It look nice both from outside and internally particularly the alter. Recommended to spare more time to sit inside and enjoy quietly prior to visiting to other spots of the...More
