This serene area use to be the residence of beginjner now converted to be the residence of KU professors, guests and research students. The well preserved houses and garden worth a visit. The area is very quiet and nice for an evening walk. It is located 10 minutes walk from Old Town Hall. Worth a visit as it is an Unesco Heritage.

Bery nice, old, quite neighbourhood that used to be the home of unmarried women but is not home to students and teachers of the local university. Very tranquil.

Good to know a bit of history and to walk on it. The river passes by and its a little bit romantic and historical at same time. Not a must see, but if near by, pass by.

This is a nice getaway place from a busy city of Brussels. It's quiet and nice to stroll around. There's also a church in the area.

This place is a must for all visitors and always on our tour when we get visitors . Doesn’t take long to walk around but well worth visiting. It’s like stepping back in time. All those lucky Students & Teachers living there must enjoy it. Free parking nearby and you can also walk into town from there.

If you want to escape the city noise and the business of the streets during your lunch break and meanwhile enjoy a nice walk in a silent neighbourhood, then you have to visit the former convent ,now being an UNESCO heritage site called the Great Beginage. Throughout the centuries this picturesque Medieval-looking Leuven quarter has many roles and nowadays it accommodates the international researchers and doctoral students teaching at the KU Leuven. There is a small river running through the all quarter , and Meadows open for the public where one could unwind, read a book or just go picknicing and enjoy the scenery. Once a year (usually in November or December ) there is a Candellights walk being organized at the quarter with the participation of various actors dressed as the inhabitants of this part of Leuven.

If you are visiting the Grand-Beguinage (UNESCO world heritage site, now owned by the university) nearby you can find an hidden gem.
‘De Grote Spui’, a medieval river lock complex established in 1365 BC
From the backyard of Bistro ‘The Spuye’ you have a spectacular view of the system consisting of four arches with wooden lock gates.
How to get there: Take Volmolenlaan in the direction of the Ring road (Tervuursevest). You will find a tunnel for pedestrians and cyclists, where the road crosses the river Dyle. Here is the entrance of the University Sports Facilities (Universitair Sportcentrum).
The place is popular among both students and locals.
