Not a museum in fact but a very well-preserved, beautiful, quiet neighbourhood. People still live here and there are signs telling you not to picnic on their lawns, etc. which I can understand completely. It was lovely to see the old architecture and the way the area was designed, and remains intact, today.

I have not heard about this medievial movement before. Idea od living in a self supporting group in peace and balance is well preserved on the organization od this place. It is geat that it is still lived in by students and professors. Very well preserved, with great attention to details. It is a walking distance from the marketplace probably... More

This place feels, looks and smells like a very long time ago. A place absolutely worth to visit. Take at least one hour to visit and walk through the narrow little streets, enjoy the old houses and don't forget the Faculty Club where you will appreciate an exclusive lunch.

You know I always wonder how the people back the built this place to perfection! I am always amazed on its ancient style yet still very much relevant to our time. The stones, the design are so beautiful. It is very peaceful & it has such a nice atmosphere to it.

About 10 streets. All houses in very good state. Tranquility, peace of mind, with cobble stones and beautiful small gardens (No high heels 😊).

The old Groot Begijnhof is worth a visit! It is apartments for the university, so you won't be able to visit any of the buildings. But the streets are very narrow and charming.

This town within a town is an extraordinary historical site now lovingly preserved. However, if you don't know about its history or the tradition of béguinages in the Low Countries I would recommend you look at the Wikipedia page beforehand because you won't be told very much by the very modest tourist information on offer at the site. This is... More
