Love this place

Love this place, great atmosphere and great beers, if you are not sure what to drink just ask, although the 11% house beer is a must.

While having a pint (what is new?) we got chatting to a Belgian on holiday. He told us about this little bar which we should visit. He pointed out this little alley on the map. This alley did not exist as we had passed that area so many times in out two trips. But, we had a look and lo... More

This is a great bar, so take the walk down the alley away from the waffle shops and really relax. Gin is perfectly poured with a cookie on the side, and the house Tripel was perfect, served with a dish of delicious cheese squares. The atmosphere is comfortable and the owner is extremely nice. My husband's second visit to the... More

I have drank in this bar on many occasions over the years and have always enjoyed my times there. It is tucked away down a little alleyway which you wouldn't normally notice from the street, hence it is not a "tourist trap" but a delightful atmospheric local bar with a huge selection of reasonably priced beers. You get cheese and... More

Staminee de Garre was on my bucket list ever since I read a recommendation for it in the travel book, "Are You Two Together?" I am generally not a beer drinker but would be happy to drink it every day if it was the flavour and quality of this historic brew pub's house beer. The balloon glasses filled to the... More

Bruges is a beautiful little town, but it can often feel very touristic. I was wandering down this little alleyway without having read any reviews, and stumbled upon de garre with some friends. Wow were we ever pleasantly surprised to find a place mostly filled with locals! The homebrewed beer is DELICIOUS as is the complimentary cheese and mustard.

Hidden in an alley just off the Markt, this place is an institution. Now on 3 floors, it is a traditional Belgian bar with a relaxing atmosphere and good beer. Beware of their house beer as it is 11%. Very nice though :) Well worth seeking out !
