The historic center of Bruges has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 thanks to its status as one of the commercial and cultural capitals of Europe and its enduring Gothic architecture. The Belgian city center is cited as a great example of a medieval historic settlement, even while it has evolved over the years.

A very filmic, impressive and charming medieval place surrounded by many beautiful water canals, central market is just amazing specially during christmas season, central markt is heritage of human but everything is well worth seeing. Since is a small town, a whole day is enough to see the town highlights.

Belgian tourist attractions? Bruges. The town is small and you can comfortably walk round. Those with luggage may need transport from the station otherwise enjoy the glorious 30 min stroll down beautiful medieval streets. I first came in 1971 and it has gone upmarket a lot in that time- not always a good sign though the traffic in e historic... More

Very pretty and quirky town. Not too busy but busy enough to make you feel the atmosphere. When we visited most of the shops/restaurants were closed as it was mid January so it might explain the cheap hotel prices and not long at all queues for the tourist attractions. Well worth a visit

This city is quite charming and the central market is beautiful! Take some time to wander a bit in each direction to see the nearby Burg.

Being there is like come back to middle age, narrow streets, beautiful buildings.. frozen on time. Many shops with chocolate & marcepan. Definitely you should try Belgium beer .. there is browary in Brugge .. in winter time they have festival for ice sculptures. Enjoy !

Brugge is a very nice city, the center is very well manteined, there is a square surrounded by nice old historic buildings. In general the square is crowded, a lot of tourists taking pictures, the best time to visit and take good photos is early in the morning.

This is a great day trip. If you're coming from the train station, just head outside and catch the bus. There is an information booth there that will tell you the bus #. It's 3 euro to get you into the center. We took the bus to the city center, walked around all afternoon and then walked back the train... More

Visited a couple of days after Christmas. It was nice, but somehow not as charming as seen in the movie "In Bruges". The crowds were quite large, so I can only imagine how large they would be during a busier time of year. Plus the whole area is very "touristy". I preferred Ghent.

Well worth the day trip to this medieval beautiful city an hour away from Brussels by train. You can walk or take the bus from the train station to the city center.
