The historic center of Bruges has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 thanks to its status as one of the commercial and cultural capitals of Europe and its enduring Gothic architecture. The Belgian city center is cited as a great example of a medieval historic settlement, even while it has evolved over the years.

The buildings are stunning and the atmosphere with horse and carts passing is majestic. We visited this time when the Ice rink and Xmas markets were there, having visited previously this does make it a little tacky, but the Christmas lights are beautiful in the evening. Very busy crowds, as to be expected, with the Christmas market. Our hotel also... More

An amazing site no matter what street you turn down or how you arrive. Early morning and late night it will be all but deserted (except for the areas with the Christmas market at night). We found everything opened a bit later than we expected (9-10) and closed a bit earlier (5-7), but that was to be expected for December.... More

We loved our few days here and intend to come again as there's so much to see and do. Recommend taking the free walking tour with Nick called Legends of Bruges which starts at 2pm by the statue on the Market Square. He relates history in an amusing way whilst giving actual facts about the wonderful Bruges buildings and places.... More

What is not to like about Bruges? It is a fantastic town with beautiful architecture that seems to have been put together with no planning control - but it works. Around every corner we found great looking buildings. There seemed to be an absence of all the major high street players in the centre of town which is great. If... More

Visited Christmas markets today from England .Bruge lovely . Markets very poor. Hardly any stalls. Mostly poor quality tourist goods . Virtually no local goods . Would never have gone if we had known that . Do not waste your time

I visited Bruges with my daughter as part of a cruise. It was stunning but very cold. The Christmas markets were there and the ice rink and as the trees were sprayed white it was very beautiful. We had hot chocolate and crepes in a café in the middle of the market square and people watched while we were warming... More

We were curious what to do for one day in Brugge and spend 3 hours on the way to the main square from the railway station (20 min directly). There are a lot of nice places, shops, bars and restaurants an the way. Every part of the city center worth of visit, so prepare for a long walk. If you... More
