A well-thought-out, well designed art museum. Just the right size. Wonderful Flemish masters, information available in English. Audio guide would have been helpful.

If you like fine arts, this is the place to be. A real gem on a rainy morning in Bruges. There is a very good bookshop in the corner. Order a local guide for a tour in the musea.

Its a decent museum with some works from famous artists like Van Eyck and Bruegel but there isn't enough of them IMO to justify the admission price. I also did not see any Magrites despite the advertisement.

I believe you are referring to The Madonna with Canon van der Paele by Jan Van Eyck. Although it's the madonna seated on the throne, not a man.
