With all the history the area has this show the site of a battle that could have gone either way. Well maintained like all the sites if you have scottish roots that served Ypres its a place to visit but bring some tissues.

I don't think I would have found this one, except that we were staying at a B&B just along the road. It's a small, well-kept area, with flags flying and a lone Scottish soldier on a plinth. Very nice.

Being both Scottish and ex army this Black Watch memorial was a must see. It fully lived up to expectations being well sited and very well executed.

We visited this Memorial and Cemetery on our Back Roads Battlefields Tour. Again we found it to be well cared for and respected. The sacrifice these men gave for this country is well remembered.

Like many there are memorials scattered all round the area, this one to the Scotts. Simple and moving with benches to sit on and reflect, may be you will be lucky enough to hear a piper playing here on some occasions.

The story about this point of interest is documented on site. Parking is limited. Polygon Wood is closely associated with a lot of the WW1 action in this area.

A beautiful statue of a Black Watch soldier, tucked away on the edge of Polygon Wood. A closer look reveals the significance of the location, and the valiant actions of a proud regiment of the British Army.
