I feel compelled to write this review after reading the bad 1 star reviews of this Loch.

Needing out the house after months of being cooped up we headed out with our wee cockapoo dog for the day. My partner had heard of loch glow from pals and living near by we went.

The road down is not a tarmac road, it’s gravel and you do have to be careful … but this is sign posted as you turn off main road and speed limit is 10mph (it’s only 1 mile ish).
I didn’t realise until we got there that it was a fishing loch and saw the sign in car park saying anglers parking only & members only on Wednesday’s. Being a Saturday we parked up and my partner went to the portacabin office to ask if we could park and take our dog for a walk. He came back and said the guy couldn’t have been nicer and told him “aye go for it and take your wee dog and misses for a wander round and next time bring your rod’s”.

We had a nice walk round loch and meet a couple of fishermen who were not overly friendly but polite.
As my partner is a keen fisherman we will be back with our rods and a wee day tent to sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of loch glow and hopefully catch a fish or 2!!

I believe it all depends on your own attitude as to how you are treated by others.

Arrived and enquired if there were any access restrictions to the water for paddle sports. Advised it was private and for fishing only. This was advised by the Duty Bailiff - George Scofield. I accepted that access was not allowed to be respectful of their wishes. As I was leaving and going back to my vehicle to leave a member was having a conversation clearly to try to intimidate me and said just tell them to F**k Off this is private land. I have contacted the Outdoor Access Officer for the Local Council and the Landowner.

I would avoid here at all costs.

Place was shut to non members but that info isnt easy to find. Considering how horrible the road is to get there, ( will damage ur car its that bad) id expect it to be very visible. i was told it was my fault for not scrolling down tons of facebooks posts to find out that they are closed wed and friday and that they have plenty of members and i wont be missed. Fed up of the staff. Fished there many years. Been accused of cheating twice cos i was catching and others werent and the guy seemed happy to upset my kids today. The fish look deformed aswell. Rare to get a good looking fish. The place is run by members so they arent really staff and it usually shows in their attitude. We went to balmule which is very kid friendly and they were awesome. Had goats to pet, chickens, sand pit, wee shop bit and of course we caught out limit. Wont be back to the glow again.

Would give 0 if possible, walking in from the back nature park and reviewing signs that said nothing about the apparent “no camping” rule, we decided to set up our tents and setting up a small controlled fire we were shouted at by a fisher to put the fire out.
There was no signs stating no fires but being considerate we doused the fire and returned to our tent. The gentleman who shouted stated he would call the police and we saw a police car expecting them to come over to enforce the law. They never did.
In the morning we tidied our campsite leaving no trace of us being there and walked through the fishery entrance to leave and were stopped and told we weren’t able to camp and we had a fire “5ft tall”... the actual fire was around 2 ft for 2 minutes as we burned cardboard.

The owner said the police were called and I stated they never enforced anything and we were not told to leave, having had a couple of ciders each we wouldn’t have been able to drive anyway, which was explained. He then said he wanted our pictures for the police which we politely declined and walked on. He stated we weren’t welcome back and I politely told him he should signpost the apparent “NO CAMPING” rule.
A woman proceeded to take our pictures as we walked away stating she would hand them over to the police.

The demeanour in which he addressed us and the language used to speak to us was disrespectful rude and could’ve been resolved in a politer manner.

Ps. None of us had fishing rods so didn’t buy a fishing permit hence there was no laws broken.

I never write reviews but felt compelled after what has been written in past posts. My family and I are very inexperienced fishers so we were a bit wary after reading about how rude the staff were. This could not be further from the truth... both men were very accommodating and helped me set my rod up, they engaged with my children gave us tips and advice....I never caught a fish or else it would have been 5 stars ⭐️😅.... very reasonably priced compared to other fisheries in the local area. We will be back.

Thankyou.

I Visited this Loch for the first time last year, the access road is extremely difficult and needs care from car drivers. The reviews referring to the old man at the bothy seem very strange. I have been advised about fishing methods and have had what I consider to be a good relationship with the Old Man. He has never been nasty to me or indeed anyone else within earshot of my car as I set up or tackled down to leave. He has been friendly and good for a joke or two. The fishery is well stocked and it is rare to leave with no fish. The climate seems to be unique to the Loch and it can be rainy and windy and cold even in summer. The boats require an electric outboard motor and a battery, supplied by the angler, or you need to row! Fly only from the boats, any legal method from the bank. However, My view is there is too much Poewrbait and set line fishing, not really my view of sporting methods, I prefer a moving bait rod in hand! That is just my personal opinion. Its a very good day out at a very reasonable price. Glad I found tge Loch after Forty years in Fife?

Lovely surroundings, good days fishing. Plenty choice of areas to fish due to size as its a good size loch not a pokey little fishery. £10 for day, 6 fish limit that can be increased for further payment.
