Lost in the neighborhood of Beja, this Vila remains very well preserved. Unfortunately, this monument isn't open to the public. You can still visit it, but all thanks to a very friendly and kind lady that lives nearby. She will tell you more about the Romans than anyone in any other ruin around Europe and answer to all your questions... More

The partially excavated remains of a Roman Villa just 10 km to the south west of Beja are well worth a visit. The Villa had over 40 rooms. The hypocaust and mosaics are well preserved. Check at the Tourist Information Office to check opening hours.

It's an easy walk from the Pousada de Sao Francisco. Good place to see views of the city & country side.

From photos and printed matter dotted about other sites in Beja, one gets the idea that this site might, indeed, be a very good place to visit. Currently they are CLOSED.
