this castle is set in a lovely part of estremoz and as others have mentioned you'll have to walk in to the pousada where you'll see a glass door immediately to your left which you go through and once you have climbed several staircases you'll...More

We enjoyed driving through the gate and then to the castle. We walked around the area looking at the interesting architecture and buildings. The views are very nice. We arrived late in the day so it did not seem like much was open.

The visit is free, you can see a couple of rooms very nicely decorated and you can walk up to the top of the tower with a few empty rooms on the way there. The view is awesome as expected. If you are afraid of...More

Pousada de Portugal by Pestana. Historical building from back to the 13th century. We enjoyed the whole concept very much, including wining and dining. Very friendly staff. Will be back one of these Days.

The super must see is the view from the tower ( access through the Pousada reception). It is super. Only Monsaraz is better in the Alentejo

Now a hotel, the whole castle area is beautifully kept and enjoys excellent views over the plains. Well worth a visit and perhaps ( as I did) you can also consider spending the night.

For me there are two ways to explore a place. Strolling around, getting to know the corners and the streets and from above, you'll get to see some of the details you can't see from the ground. The castle isn't big so, if you have...More

Spent a few days staying in the Parader the area has small houses shops & a great wine/tapas/wine seller through the main gate on the right.

Yes you can see it from miles away to. I'm amazed you don't need a ticket just walk in the door & climb the steps to the top. It's a land mark for miles.
