We went twice to see the lake. The first time it was cloudy and barely you could get view due to the fog. The second time we truly lucked out. This view is so incredible, I’ve never seen anything like it. I wish we had...More

From Agua de Alto it is possible to follow a sign to Lagoa do Fogo and drive up a third of the way to a car park, before the dirt road starts. The trail is relatively steep up to an aqueduct that leads to the...More

We visited twice. The view and hike are wonderful. This is a real gym. Well worth the 20 minute hike each way. Give yourself time to explore at the bottom.

Take the time to do the walking track down to the lagoon. Takes around 30 min and it's not so demanding. It is nice to have a picnic down at the beach. Clear waters and nice sand.

We went to the observation point after we visited the Caldeira Velha (which I also suggest you to visit) and were rewarded with an overwhelming view! I highly recommend you to visit both of these attractions.

Stunningly beautiful view. There is a pathway to hike down a slopping path to the lake. Highly recommend it.

Inevitably, it is a long way up from the coastline to the viewpoints surrounding the Lagoa do Foga. In doing so you have to drive past two geothermic electricity generating plants. Neither of these really impact in any way on the landscape, (although it is...More

Beautiful views and nice beach. Good place for picnic ! Located near by Caldeira Velho, easy to visit in both places during same trip.

Just nature at it's best... take the climb down for an awesome experience of nature and just the sound of nature...

One of the largest of the craters and quite central on the island, the drive up can be pretty hairy but well worth it, there was low cloud initially but this soon cleared.

I don't believe there is public transport to the mountain. We rented a vehicle and drove to the top(rim) and then hiked down. I did notice several couples coming from the bottom and hiking up as we were going down. There are... More

There is a paved road going to the top of the hill overlooking the lake, but I really would not see it as a hiking area. You would want to take a vehicle to the top. Once there, you will find plenty of easy places to walk... More
