Just enjoy this place, hike, walk, swim, drive, go ghost hunting in the abandoned hotel, have dinner or lunch in the town, have a drink and relax, enjoy the scenery…..Do NOT skip this place in your trip to Sao Miguel!

We viewed this pair of lakes from an old, disused hotel. One is green and the other blue, with a road crossing a causeway between the two.

Just simply amazing, a real must on Sao Miguel island! There are many viewing platforms around the lake, but maybe the best to walk around on the caldera.

There are many different view points, all are good, hiking between them is good. Don't skip going near the water, it is really interesting to see the dividing line between the two color.

The green and blue lakes are stunning set amongst the lush vegetation. We parked over the bridge in a small parking area just by the green lake. From here we did a circular walk which takes you up to the viewpoint in front of the...More

Make sure to view this beautiful place from Vista Do Rei. Also, the SATA azores app helps you decide on when to go to this destination. You can view the place beforehand using webcams. This place is completely hidden on a cloudy/ rainy day.

We rented a car and drove there on our own. That way we were able to go at our own speed and stop and hike. It's an easy drive as long as you are comfortable driving on narrow roads!

It is a very safe place to drive and hike around. The weather can change pretty quickly though, especially mist, with good to zero visibility in seconds. Just be smart and have a phone or let people know where you are going... More
