My sons visited the hot pools in tow several times to relax sore muscles after a day of surfing. Worth the 5 uro cost. Lots of free parking. Various pools of different temperatures. Clean, comfortable. Change areas. A small shop that sells souvenirs.

I would stay here instead of Ponta Delgada, but I don't like the touristy, high concrete hotel, crummy gift shops and sleazy harbor. Furnas is a real town, with working locals that has some of the most amazing geothermal attractions of the island. To really appreciate this village, stay there. Don't take a bus, see the steam caldiera and leave.

Short stopover is enough to have a lunch in the touristic restaurants here proposing cocido after visiting Lagoa and caldeiras Otherwise no interest to come here. It's a simple street with restaurants and Villas for thermal tourism.

We took a day trip to Furnas with another couple and their 11 year old . Azores Wonderful guided and Ruben was our driver. He is very knowledgeable about Sao Miguel and a fount of facts and interesting history. After stopping at a few breathtaking view points we visited the hot springs to see the men remove our lunch, which... More

Driving into Furnas the views are incredible. We saw 3-4 rainbows while driving through the mountains. Wandering around the hot springs was interesting.

Nice little village and worth a detour even during the winter months due to the thermal spas. Not many restaurants open during low seasons though.

Pure Azores picked us up from our hotel. We spent a full day touring the east end of the island; thermal pools at Furnas, a traditional lunch that had been cooked underground, beautiful vistas. Miguel is enthusiastic and informative. He went above and beyond to ensure the happiness of his clients!

Furnas is a terrific place to visit. A beautiful setting and a very pretty town - add to that the fascination of the hot sprongs and the spa baths and you have a must see destination.

Photos and words cannot describe Furnas. From the surrounding area to the quaint town to the main attraction. It would and should be on everybody's bucket list if only people knew it existed! We hope to return and stay for a couple of days one day soon.

Thank Tonya L
