In a fort that sits by the ocean is an amazing collection of guns, equipment and uniforms. The building housing this museum would be worth the visit if the building were empty. Its thick walls indicate its age. The Uniform collection is fabulous. There is...More

The only way to enter the fort is through the museum. An exhibition on Portuguese colonialism and the part of the Azores. The best features are the walls and the tunnels of the fort.

This is a hidden treasure with a lot to see. On entering you are taken up with the large field guns (I am a female and not sure if that is the right term ). Once you have seen these you need to follow the...More

I had a couple of hours free so I took the chance to look around the fort by the harbour. I could have spent longer. The construction of the fort itself is interesting, and it contains a wide and fascinating range of military memorabilia from...More

Except for the Fort itself I would give this museum a pass unless you are into knives and guns. Lots of different displays. 3 euros for adults.

An amazing display of all things military - guns of all types, military vehicles, old documents and photos. Also good views from the battlements.

Visited the fort during our one day cruise port of call. It did say on the board outside the entrance that the admission fee is 3 euros. When we enter the fort & went up to the ticket counter, the person on duty requested for...More

I enjoyed a bit of shade from a very hot warm summer afternoon, visiting this museum. It is not life shattering and it is nice enough. I really enjoyed some of the pieces on display.

The Fort and Museum were very nicely arranged with most exhibits in the old fort rooms themselves. This fort was built during the days of pirates and revamped as needed throughout the years. WW II weapons still exist in their positions on the top level....More
