This is the Misericordia Church in Angra and we loved it. The visit is paid (small fee) but it's well worth the price as the guide was very helpful and explained everything with much detail.

Small donation for tourists, free for worshippers. Looks from the outside a bit like the white and blue church in Praia, but the inside is a lot more elaborate in decoration. The climb up the stairs and the views from the second floor are worth...More

A really beautiful church. It is located in a nice area in the older parts of Angra do Heroísmo. Well worth a visit.

This church, down by the marina, is magnificently decorated and well worth a visit, although one is "invited" to pay a small donation/ entrance fee. A charming lady offered us a lot of interesting information plus a small explanatory leaflet.

We found this church on our first stroll to the waterfront. The bright blue color really stood out! We walked over to see if it was open and got lucky -- not only was it open, but the lady inside taking admission (1.50 euros) was...More

Want to pray near the Atlantic Ocean? go to this Igreja. Inside majestic like all churches, outside a beautiful plaza with statues, paintings, and of course a view of the ocean.

This is the church that stands out the most fro Monte Brasil. It's colors on the outside are striking. There is a docent that gives a brief history of the church. There is a recommended 1,50 Euro admission as they are repairing parts of the...More
