We walked as much of the garden as possible, it has the potential to be world class, unfortunately it seems that funding is limited and so there are many closed pathways and limited maintenance in other areas. We loved many parts of the park but...More

Spent a lovely part of a hot afternoon strolling through the garden. Well worth the walk up the hill and after visiting the university grounds that are adjacent to the garden. Paths take you back down to the river and near central Coimbra. Well worth...More

We stopped here while walking around Coimbra. The garden is very pleasant and has a number of interesting plants. Only some were in flower, obviously reflecting the season. There were some signs to orient you once you were inside the garden, but there are only...More

We walked through the garden after touring the university and library and cathedrals. It was nice to get out of the sun.

Medium sized botanical garden with good paths and signage. Nice to compare how early some plants are flowering compared to UK. Some areas closed when we visited but they will be open later in the year. Massive mangrove tree. Recommended.

Local vegetables and fruits sold on Saturdays. Small but nice market, and a must visit for everyone who wants to support local organic agriculture.

We took the shuttle through the park to Coimbra University. It looked like a beautiful place to spend some time and relax. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to do more than drive through it.

As botanical gardens go this definitely needs a lot of work and has been neglected. I can imagine in the summer it's a good place to find shade and peace and quiet but I wouldn't make a special trip to visit it. However, it just...More
