Magnificent architectural ensemble, a work of art both outside and inside. In addition, for a small fee you can explore it almost completely. There are guides in several languages. Allowed photography.

We dropped in here when we had some time to spare in Coimbra - we were both very glad that we did so as it is very impressive. There is a lot to see inside so make sure you allow 1-2 hours.

This place is very nice. We loved it even more than the old cathedral. There's so much more to visit and to see. Don't forget to visit the monastery too, because it has lots of ancient relics.

This very central church is breathtaking and overwhelming in its grandeur and opulence both outside and in. It is a must see when visiting Coimbra and there is a delightful cafe next door where you can enjoy the view of the church and the square.

The main altarpiece is very pretty. There were also blue tile scenes on the walls. The cafe next door is also good.

Your tour will likely end here and then visit the church and double back for the Church of Santiago and the Back breaker street up to the old cathedral and the university.

Great architectural example of its time. The restoration is spot on and the location is easy to get to as the town can be a bit hilly.

This single nave beauty, build back in 1121, is renowned for its dazzling Manueline architectural detail and there is an elaborate portico as well as a beautifully carved pulpit. Two kings are buried here and, as well as the Church itself, there is the pretty...More

I visited Santa Cruz twice during my short stay in Coimbra, first to have a look at the interior of the church, then the next day to take more time, and pay, to see the monastery. I suspect that its exterior will under-whelm you. Certainly...More
