The old buildings of Coimbra university has got some special charm. Just imagine its dated from 1292.... We loved our visit to the palace , and the small chapele with its beautiful frescoes. Don't miss the Mathematic faculty with nice mural painting.

Except for some special place like the old palace area, the university is a bit worn out with graffiti everywhere and few places need to be prepared.

The library is stunning but other historic parts are equally worth visiting. The tower is a tuff climb but worth the effort

We were here during the period just before exams. So things were a bit chaotic student-wise. At night they were very wild, noisy, and drunk in the streets. Off campus, we also saw some rough hazing going on. They did not like our taking photos of it. Also, you'll think you entered Hogwarts with the students in their "Harry Potter"... More

The university quad at the top of the hill is absolutely stunning - with views to match. Beautiful architecture - highly recommended.

We visited the University as part of an organised trip with Riviera Travel. The University itself is full of history and fascinating pieces of furniture, paintings, etc. the library too is very interesting as are the many books still housed there. It is interesting that both the University and library are still fully operational as you see students wandering around... More

The Old town and university offers a wealth of grand buildings with remarkably unfettered access . We wandered around the campus in the early evening in amongst the students dressed in their gowns. The buildings themselves are adorned with grand statues and frescoes .
