Located on Rua Olimpio Nicolau Rui Fernandes, this Baroque style fountain is surrounded by two flights of stone stairs. The street this fountain is located on is quite busy - there is lots of traffic, a couple of bus stops in front and the police station across the street. Also located across the street is the more picturesque Manga Garden.... More

The New fountain or Jewish fountain. The New Fountain is located at Rua Olímpio Nicolau Rui Fernandes, and is also known as the Jewish fountain. The fountain we see on the present has being rebuilt with a Baroque appearance. The fountain is not an eye catcher, but the “Manga Garden” who is in front is. So the total is nice... More

New Fountain is located at Rua Olímpio Nicolau Rui Fernandes, and is also known as the Fonte Nova. Other given names were the Jewish Fountain (Fonte dos Juseus). The first fountain was built in 1137 or thereabouts, but the present fountain was rebuilt in 1725 with a Baroque appearance. Beside the fountain there are stairs that were built in 1986.

It is also known as the Jews Fountain since 1137. It was later remodeled with a tasteful decoration in 1725. The staircase that integrates the fountain was completed in 1986.

The fountain is in nice square, but the fountain by itself looks like nothing special. Lots of pigeons are around and waiting to feed them.
