It can be quite an experience to get there in a Winter day, but there's easy-enough hiking tracks for the more adventurous traveller and some signage explaining the pre-historic relevance of the vale. More information about the history and legends of the area may help...More

Another example of how special is the human-being. Lovely carved rock in a beautiful place of the highest mountains of continental Portugal. Be sure to not leave any garbage, we all love to see a clean beautiful sight.

It is a bas-relief sculpture, carved in a rock, representing Nossa Senhora da Boa Estrela, the protector Saint of the Shepherds.

Very simple but amazingly beautiful cult place. Better than the place itself is the road to get there. Some of the most beautiful sceneries in the Serra da Estrela.

One of the very scenic sites in Serra da Estrela. The park has a range of dramatic landscapes, from semi-desert rocks to rugged mountains and forests, plus Europe's longest glacial valley.

Stayed at the Pousada Da Serra Ca Estrela so we journeyed up the mountains to see the spectacular views. This figure was cut into the mountainside

The structures themselves are massive and very interesting, but they mainly serve as a good excuse to walk around and smell the fresh air
