When in Lisbon you need to try the ascensores/elevadores out

We tried all 3 of them + the lift, and I would rate them like this: 1. Ascensor da Lavra (because of the topside entrance 2. Ascensor da Bica (because of the bottom entrance and... read more

We tried all 3 of them + the lift, and I would rate them like this: 1. Ascensor da Lavra (because of the topside entrance 2. Ascensor da Bica (because of the bottom entrance and the view of the ride 3. Ascensor de Gloria (well, it is just there...) 4. Santa Justa Lift It is a MUSH to have a... More

If you have a valid Viva Viagem card you cam take the Bica trip up or down. It starts not far from Mercado da Ribeira and will take you close to miradouro st. Catarina. If you don't have a valid card the trip will vost you 3.6€. Enjoy.

The Bica Elevador is quite useful to get you from the Ribera Market area to the Bairro Alto and if you have a €6 day ticket (Viva Viagem) then all the elevadors are included. Don't pay the ludicrous €3.60 for a single journey! It is a fascinating piece of kit, the two sloping cars crossing halfway up/down the impossibly steep... More

One of the oldest transport in Lisbon. There are 3 tram(Bica, Gloria e Lavra). The trip is very nice. If you pay on board is 3,60€ round trip. If you buy in subway (for example) a reusable card, it will cost 1,40€ each trip.

This is the iconic and highly photographed Elevador with amazing views at the top, as well as a great way to get up to the Bairro Alto and catch the 28E in either direction.

Elevador da Bica is one of the tram lines, I tried to avoid tourists crowds by going out early. Fun way to explore the city when you don't want to walk up hill.

3.60 euros was a little expensive for the short ride down the hill but there were no queues which probably made it the most desirable funicular. It's tucked away so you need to be on the look out for it.

I saw pictures of this place on internet whilst planning my trip and noted down that i must go there. Indeed it was the right plan and one that i would recommend any visitors to go and see, esp if you like photography. The elevator line stretches up and down a giant slope with steps on either side. The vibrate... More

This is a very old hillside tram and should be experienced when in Lisbon. Very popular with tourists not wishing to walk uphill!

When in Lisbon you have to do at least one 'elevador' elevator de bica is spectacularly steep, antiquated and being off the main tourist route feels more 'real'.
