Carris is pleased to make public its memories and its contribution to Lisbon's growth for more than a century. This city has developed along with its public transport system. The existence of the Museum has two distinct and complementary reasons. The first concerns the creation of a collection based on historical and valuable objects, to ensure a global and updated knowledge of the company. The second aspect is the exposure of patrimony in order to contribute to the cultural development of the community and also to consolidate the company's image among the public. Internally, the Museum enhances human performance of its staff by strengthening their professional integrity, thanks to a deeper knowledge of the company.Carris Museum allows the visitor to take a journey through time using documents and objects that are placed at their disposal: reports, photos, uniforms, transport tickets, workshop equipment, trams, buses...

Interesting museum spread across three different parts of the tram depot with a vintage tram ride between the halls. Good interpretation panels in Portuguese and English and an interesting selection of preserved trams.

Not only Trams, there are old double Decker buses which allow on board visit (even the driver seat). Unlike other museum which only allow distance watching. Great.

We came here as my children are interested in public transport. It was nice and quiet compared to many other tourist attractions, and there was plenty to see, including a ride in an old tram around the museum grounds. Very cheap entrance fee as well. Highly recommended.

This is a must-see for anybody who has spent time wandering around Lisbon seeing the various forms of transport (trams, buses, ascencors, escaladors etc) and wanting to know more about them. There are some very interesting memorabilia from the early days of Carris (the public transport company) and lots of fascinating photographs of the role that trams, funiculars etc. have... More

If you're a bus/tram enthusiast, you'll have lots of fun going around the old vehicles, as that is clearly the highlight of the place. However, the museum is somewhat confusing, and you find yourself alone and lost along the way.

What a fantastic experience! Entrance fee 4€ per person. We only left after 1,5 hours. This is due to the fantastic tour we were offered: after the first exhibition room with the expected explanations about the first steps of the tram in Lisbon, one of the oldest original (!) trams, upgraded to an old-style luxury VIP model, took us to... Visited the Carris museum when visiting Lisbon, what a hidden gem! Anyone who is interested in heritage transport will love this museum. We had a lovely welcome when we arrived, just a 4 euro entrance fee, what a bargain. First section has displays with historic documents plus history of Carris transport. You then get to ride on a heritage tram... More

Lisbon has a wonderful public transportation system and we made use of it while visiting the city. It has a metro, trains, trams, buses, and funiculares. We visited this museum on a rainy day and, thanks to the public transport system, were able to get on a bus near our apartment and get off just a short ways from the... More
