The Wines of Portugal Tasting Room in Lisbon, or Sala Ogival of Lisbon, is located in the west part of Praça do Comércio, also known as Terreiro do Paço, is one of the most emblematic European squares, named after the fact that there is situated the Paço Real. During two centuries (1511, in the reign with King Manuel I, 1755, with King José I) this was the place chosen to be the Royal Palace of Portugal. Rebuilt after the earthquake that devastated Lisbon in 1775, the square became known as Praça do Comércio. Nowadays, the elegant buildings that surround the Terreiro do Paço have a new dynamic that also houses government departments and ministries, with modern restaurants, shops, cafes and other services. The tasting room has a large space where the visitor can taste more than 1,000 wines from all regions of the country, with a small room for thematic tastings and a small library.

Fun way to try Portuguese wines and ports. Get a refillable card and then try over 20 types of wines from all regions of Portugal for a reasonable price. Would be great if they had tables outside.

We had limited time in Portugal and were not going to be able to visit a vineyard. This gave us a great opportunity to sample wines from all over Portugal in an economical, new and fun way-self pour machines with a debit card. The venue...More

We didn't have enough time in Portugal to visit any of the wineries, so we were thrilled to find ViniPortugal. You can taste wines from all over the country and create your own tasting trip. The bar is located right off the huge Praca do...More

Whoever found ViniPortugal out, he or she must have been a genius. We absolutely loved both the place, both the wines. A lot.

So, it's a wine tasting room where they have a card that you load money onto and then use that to get tastings. They are constantly switching out wines, so that's nice. The wines vary in price from about €0.50 to €2.50. It's a nice...More

Lots of wines to taste. You load a card and pay for your tastings as you go. One side for reds and one side for whites. Tastings are 50 cents to 3 euro-- average around 1 Euro. We wish they had some sort of snacks...More

Great place to sample Portugal wines. Government ran place to promote wines. You really can't buy what you taste there. Personally, I think they need to sell the wines available to sample and they need to sell food. If they did, we would have spent...More

I'm just writing to say how much we enjoyed the wine tour. The presenters were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic! The place itself was in a lovely location with great vaulted ceilings, not perfect for listening to presentations but it had a great feel to it!...More

A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site,
Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply
"Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake
construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755
earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its
name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in
Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the
