A very impressive, beautiful monument dedicated to Portuguese exploration and explorers. This prominent monument is housed at the waterfront area of the southern portion of Lisbon's Belem district surrounded by a decorative tile inlaid plaza. A very popular attraction with its 32 climbing figures. You...More

This is worth visiting for the close-up views alone. It's a pity you can't see the front end from on land, but there's plenty else to admire. You can also ascend to the top for views over Belem and the river.

A nice monument for trips to America. It is nice in the evening to walk around. You don't have to climb it from inside

We wanted to see the Torre de Belem, monestary and, of course the Padrao dos Descobrimentos. This is a truly impressive monument and one you must see when in the area. There are always lots of tourists to block the perfect photo, but that's to...More

If you do not know the history of Portugal very well, the monument will not be interesting to you. But the place where the monument is located is excellent. Embankment, overlooking the opposite shore and the bridge. Great!

We were intrigued by the apparent randomness of this structure so felt compelled to take a closer look. €5 took us up in the lift to the viewing platform which was preferable to the 267 steps. The views from the top were amazing and we...More

Got off at Belém station and walked there. Took 15P railed there. You can take 15 tram or a bus. Usually, all the rides are very crowded.

I loved the tile mosaic at the base. And the monument is very powerful. Some of us will not be so impressed because of the historical meaning of all these discoveries to the locals in Africa and Brasil, But - if we are tourists.......The views...More
