Very helpful and friendly service, great selection of hand made Portuguese shoes with great prices, best in Lisbon. Most shops here sell international brands so it's good to finally find a shop selling local made shoes.

Visiting Sapataria do Carma was an absolute pleasure! The shop is charming and the staff helpful and delightful. The shoes are classically original--both beautiful to see and to wear. My husband and I left with eight pairs between the two of us.

This charming shoe store caught our attention with its display of stylish shoes. Pedro, the owner, is charming and enthusiastic about continuing the operation of this store which was started in 1904. He is also passionate about the quality of the shoes he and his wife (in the adjoining store) sell. One of our best shopping experiences in Portugal.

One of my favorite shoe stores in Lisbon. The collection is beautiful, the designs are classic yet interestingly original (I couldn't find similar designs and color combinations elsewhere) and the materials are of an excellent quality. The assistants were really engaging and I was able to learn much more about how and where the shoes are made. This shop is... More

Such beautiful, unique shoes. Haven't ever seen the colors and designs. The owner was so helpful and really was passionate about the shoes. He made us feel like family. After we bought a pair of shoes (a sharp gray leather to contrast all the black and brown I have) - he even walked us to a local restaurant which he... More

I was so lucky to have found this great shop while walking around Lisbon downtown. First of all, I have never seen such a great shop staff in other places and he helped me a lot with choosing those beautiful shoes. I was taking such a long time to choose which shoes to take but he never pushed me... More

If you are in Lisbon looking for beautiful handmade shoes for both men and women, do not fail to visit the charming shoe store Sapataria do Carmo, Largo do Carmo 26. The price and quality of these beautiful shoes are highly competitive, there is only one problem TO CHOOSE how many couples. To this should be added that Sapataria do... More

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
