This place is huge, and there's a lot to see. Make sure you make it to the library which has a lot of amazing old books.

Located in the heart of Mafra, this Palace carry`s an historical magnitude that is almost unique to itself, from the share size of the Palace, to the attention to detail in each of the rooms inside, together with very nice outside areas, in the roof...More

A must visit if your near Mafra. The palace and convent is a piece of Portugals history. Mafra is near Ericeira and so, after visiting the palace and the village we went for lunch to Ericeira. Nice village by the sea.

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
How much time should you allocate to visit the Palacio Nacional de Mafra to do it properly and see the Palace, Basilica, library and hospital. We are going to Portugal in September this year and would like to see as much as possible and have time on our side as we are retired. Any other suggestions on what else to see would be appreciated. Many thanks Mary Bishop
