I love it! I loved the possibility of tasting new tropical fruits that I never had before! Very delicious! There are also fresh fish market area and flowers area, where buy the flowers or the seeds!

Great place to view the local produce fish and vegetables fruit and local crafts. All at reasonable prices. Cafe shops, toilets and a restaurant on the roof top serving just snacks but good cold beer. With sun shades but no views!

Fruit sellers try to rip off tourists with high prices. This Mercado is also overrated. Nice to see the scabbard fish dowstairs though.

No. Nearby are many restaurants in a re developed part of old Funchal. You will find plenty of choice along the narrow street that runs up to the fort at Santa Maria.
