We walked from Funchal (near Reid's) to Camara de lobos - a good walk and the tunnel was fun; but this pebble beach was not the best part. Hard to walk on.

The walk between Funchal and Camara dos Lobos is an interesting and attractive walk. But you need to be prepared for hazards. The tunnel on the East side of the Praia Formosa might be locked. If it is, then you have to walk up the...More

We started this walk from Lido to Camara de Lobos but gave up for two reasons. First, we discovered that as a result of storm damage parts of the walk are cut off and you have to walk around because the path is dangerous. Apparently...More

Barriers up to prevent people walking all the way along as too dangerous? Pleasant walk and relaxing to sit on the shore side, several cafes with drinks and ice creams, toilets available too and they were clean. You can park at the bottom if you...More

Rocky beach... but with a beautiful view over the Cabo Girao! Sunset and the occasional passing pod of dolphins! Just outside Funchal, walkable distance! Go to the BeerGarden nearby, local and delicious!

A clean volcanic pebble beach that generates a lot of surf noise. Very relaxing, and with a band of dark volcanic sand at the wave line.

You can walk along the beach quite far. A walk with variation. Comfortable, and you can sit and have a rest.

This delightful walk, well signposted from the Lido, along pathways until the Praia, is well worth the effort. Before going down to the beach there is a little shopping centre with toilets as there are toilets about halfway along the beach. Yes the beach is...More
