Plenty of pebbles of course but also some areas of fine, very black sand, nice to walk along boardwalk to village of Camara de Lobos approx 45mins at holiday pace!! - or walk in opposite direction, through a tunnel in cliff for lovely views towards...More

We were really adventurous thinking we can do the beach path with our 7 month old and her stroller. Luckily both are fairly light! I was scared I might trip on the pebbles while holding either my LO or the stroller. Pebbles were too hot...More

This is a fully acessible walk along the rugged Atlantic coast, with parking and snack bars. Easy level walk way suitable for wheel chairs and the less physically able. Great on a calm sunny day or when the wind is blowing the sea spray from...More

On the grand scale of beaches, this unfortunately isn't. The area is pretty enough but the beach is almost entirely made up of large pebbles. You would be hard pressed to find any sand. I could not envisage laying there in any degree of comfort...More

Wonderful way to spend an afternoon walking along this beach. If you follow the walkway you can walk all the way to a small fishing village.

We are close to this beach when staying at Pestana Grand. We walk down the steps to the lido and through cool tunnell and across the beach. You can walk and walk forever by just following the road and boardwalk.

Since we were staying at Golden Residence Hotel it is pretty close to the east side of the beach. Part of the way you go through a volcanic cave & can see the waves splashing with enormous force inside the cave.Beyond this is a wooden...More

Great sea view and relatively calm compared to north coast, however it was very stony above high water line, the only sand was where the surf had scoured the beach. No beach lifeguards, surf to big to contemplate swimming.

On our walk from Hotel Porto Mare to Camera de Lobos we enjoyed a drink at a tiny restaurant by this beach. Lots of people were plodding over it but we chose to walk along the road, then rejoin the coastal path. The walk was...More

Very stoney at the east, getting a little better as you walk to Camera de Lobos. Though some do swim its more of a walk along the seaside type of beach with a man made walkway running from the tunnels through the cliff at the...More
