Elegant, but chandeliers??

Lovely little church with two rather beautiful chandeliers, seems a bit weird, but who am I to judge?

Used the cable car to get here although a bus is an option. It has steep steps to the main door although you can walk up via the adjacent gardens. The interior is very impressive with lots of gold leaf. It also has an interesting history. Worth a look.

There are steps up to the roof between the bell towers - access is on the right after exiting the church. Wonderful view from there. This is just above where the toboggans/sleds start off.

It's a lovely church, even the space and view around it, it's captivating, and one of Austria's former kings is there!

On our last visit to Monte we visited the tropical gardens and ran out of energy to climb the numerous steps to this lovely church! This time I was determined to visit and was very happy that I had. There were many people of different nationalities and a very friendly atmosphere in the church. The views from the top were spectacular.

Lovely old church with an interesting history. Loved all the Flemish ceramic tile art. You can have your "sled" ride on the street below it. The whole area is beautiful. No wonder the cable car ends there.

Ascended to Monte by cable car and walked across to this Church. Very steep steps to get there, but worth the effort. Lots of gilt inside and a nice marble pulpit. Superb views from the balcony. Statue of the Hapsburg King/Saint by the entrance.

We took the red hop on/off bus up and the cable car down. We found the whole Monte area very disappointing, dirty and not well kept. The church is not pretty or well kept. Loose steps and very grubby. Best thing is the views.
