Très jolie place pour faire des photos à côté des bâtiments très colonial. ( Very nice place to take some pictures just near colonial building).

We visited here several years ago when there were hardly any restaurants along the streets of this vibrant area. It's hard to choose one! Don't miss the painted doors and the cute little side streets.

We went for a walk along these cobbled streets - the old part of Funchal. Very beautiful. It is bursting with restaurants. Therefore I would suggest visiting during lunch time. We were here a bit early for that.




Spend a few hours in the night and visit the bars, take a look in the doors, yes artistic paint in the doors, by the bred in Mariazinha, the tradicional bred..





The old town is now very mcc focused on tourists, as is much of Funchal, but it's not too "in your face". yes, the waiters do suggest you might like to eat at their restaurant, but a smiling reply invariably gets a smiling response.
