We took the funicular up simply because we had spent a long day walking around and were tired. The view is nice but I wouldn't go out of my way to take this just for the sake of the view, there are lots better places...More

Recently utilised after visiting Churchill's. This is a Must when in Porto as gives you amazing views when travelling up from the River side. It's also convenient as the hills / steps are quite tiresome so using this mode of transport definitely a good way...More

Tie this in with a trip around the Cais/Gaia and the Se Cathedral and get some great photos of the bridge too. Its pretty inexpensive and runs from the foot of the Ponte Luis I up to the area around the Se Cathedral.

After our wander on the river we headed to the small funicular to take us back up the bluff to Santa Carolina. Small fee one way of 2.5 eu. Small queue and short wait. GOOD view of the underbelly of the big bridge. Kind of...More

April to October its 08.00 to 22.00 and 08.00 to 00.00 at weekends. Only variation is April to March when it closes at 22.00 at weekends. Full details available at the Funicular website located at metrodoporto.
