This is the subway system used in the Porto city. It's a good alternative to taxis and buses and a lot cheaper.

We purchased a three day pass for metro and buses on arrival at the station from the airport . At a cost of 15€ it represented excellent value for money . You need a map to ensure you leave at the correct exits but is...More

Go onto metro porto before you visit and work out your trips in advance, once you have used the system once its a doddle. I would definitely recommend using the metro as its such a quick and convenient way to travel in and around porto

We used this extensively while we were here. A lot cheaper than taxis or Ubers. This one is different from the one in Lisbon in that you're on the honor system. There are no checks for tickets, however, we were told there are random checks,...More

Public transport in Porto is poorly managed. The zoning system is outdated and nearly impossible to understand. If you are planning on using the tram or bus more than a few times per day I recommend that you get a 24hr or 72hr Andante card...More

The ticket machine can do both Portuguese and English. Very easy to understand and use. The metro will let you know when each stop is coming up and it is very easy to change lines.
