This excursion was one of the highlights of our South East Asia tour.
The early start (4.45 a.m.) to see the gibbons was well worth it. The breakfast was superb, and this was followed by a gentle hike day through the jungle. Kelly and the two local (Bunong)) guides were superb, and the lunch cooked at the river by the two local guides was absolutely superb. The local guides also taught us some Cambodian words.
We very much liked the fact that World Hope International employed members from the local community in this conservation project.

What a fantastic experience. We did the three day, two night tour and the staff was so accommodating and knowledgable, showing us exactly what we were most interested in. The night hikes revealed lots of amazing creepy crawlies, and the mornings spent following the gibbon family through the forest were amazing-- exactly what we wanted. The bungalows and the thatched pavilion were comfortable, with a wonderful view out toward the jungle. Every meal was fresh and delicious, with plenty of amazing fruit and vegetables. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful stay.

The Jahoo Gibbon tour is the reason you want to go to Mondulkiri! This was the best experience in our lives and nothing will ever top the experience of seeing the gibbons and other primates/animals in their natural habitat, sleeping in the beautiful thatched/bamboo bungalows with views on the jungle and last but not last spending time with the wonderful, kind and knowledgeable staff, both the local Bunong guides and the expat researcher/manager.
We definitely recommend to stay at the Jahoo Gibbon camp for at least one night. This way you can do multiple hikes, have a night tour, and see many animals. And of course don’t forget: do the (super early but super worth it) gibbon morning trek after a night sleep in the beautiful bungalow. The pictures do not do justice to how beautiful and relaxing it is. The camp has three bungalows, this way they make sure it will never be overcrowded at the camp. They serve you super delicious breakfast, lunch and diner at the beautiful main area, while Elaine or Kyle join you to talk about the animals, nature, etc you just encountered
We visited in the rainy season and were a bit afraid the experience would be very wet and uncomfortable. We had luck with the weather and our fake Wellington rain boots bought at the market in Sen Monorom (around $5) were a life saver. Don’t be afraid to visit in the rainy season, just come prepared.
We want to thank some of our wonderful guides Sala, Veshna, Njie (my apologies if I write their names incorrectly). They made our trip so special and made sure we saw as many animals as possible. You may even learn a Bunong or Khmer word or two. Thank you Kyle for sharing your knowledge with us. You are an incredible host and made sure we had the best experience.

If you are thinking in coming to this place, please stop thinking and make a booking right now. The Jahoo Gibbon camp is a true jewel, it is a Community Based Tourism company, beautifully put together, knowledgable people guiding and taking care of you, the local female researchers gliding through the forest, seeing with attuned eyes are a breath of hope, the architecture of the facilities, the food <3.
Everything was just perfect, specially the stars of the show, the gibbons. It was a deep, meaningful opportunity to be part of their morning ritual, waking up, finding the members of the family by singing a delicate duet, male and female, then the female guiding the whole group to the breakfast tree and singing a little bit more to make sure they all are present to start the feast.
It was so easy to connect with them, they are apes just like us, the family is lead by a monogamous couple, live in groups, take care of the kids (and get exhausted by them, can you imagine a gibbon toddler, it was impossible not to connect with the mother), they recognize themselves and others, play and groom each other using their hands in a delicate way, glide gracefully in the trees. The whole experience was magical.
I am deeply grateful that places like this exist, it gives me true hope, in a world that the beauty of life is considered an asset instead of the source of everything.
Thank you with my whole heart!

What an experience we did a 2 day trek and overnight in the jungle lodge. Lodges were basic but a cold shower with a jungle view was much needed after a hot day trekking
We were up early for the gibbons who did t disappoint as we followed their singing and then watched them - amazing
Kelly and the guides wer great giving us a fab insight into the jungle!
Plenty of chill time, food and trekking - thoroughly recommend
We did as a family ( children aged 14 & 11)

Keo Siena Wildlife Sanctuary is being protected and studies by the community associated with Jahoo! We had an amazing time interacting with the local guides and researchers. We heard the gibbons singing each morning at 5:30am and had full days of hiking learning about the ecosystem and local culture. The food was delicious, fresh and plenty! Also, the accommodations were very comfortable. We highly recommend this activity for adults who love nature and local ecotourism combined with long term scientific research!

I was particularly impressed by observations of the Yellow-cheeked gibbons that were made possible by the dedicated work of resident scientists, Helene Birot, Chris Iverson and their Cambodian research assistants. We spent several hours observing the gibbons and noted their family structure, social life, and incredible acrobatic skills as brachiators. The morning duetting songs by the gibbons was real treat. I write this review as a primatologist myself with 50 years experience with wild primates in other countries.
Sightings of the Black-shanked douc langur and pig-tailed macaques were more challenging, it takes time, but I fully appreciate the dedicated work that needs to be invested by the team to habituate these animals. We also learned about the efforts for biological conservation (including elephants) through investment and collaboration with the local indigenous community.
We did not stay overnight, but the accommodations looked comfortable and rustic and we were served a unique tasty meal from the local cuisine.
Overall this was an interesting and valuable experience so representative of tropical rainforest wildlife that faces survival challenges. I much appreciate the organizers, scientists, their assistants, and the local community in their effort to showcase this portion of Cambodian primate life and biodiversity. It was well-worth the cost of participation.

I booked the Discover Jahoo option, which gave me 3 days and 2 nights to fully appreciate the beauty of the experience. It was worth every dollar to see gibbons - including a mum and baby - swinging freely in the lush canopy above - such a magical moment.
Getting up before dawn to hear the gibbons calling out to each other, echoing in the forest, was extraordinary.
I was lucky enough to see everything on my wish list: gibbons, doucs, macaques, mouse-deer, a loris and civet, rare birds, and so much more.
The price reflects the unique opportunity to see endangered species like the southern yellow-cheeked crested gibbons in the wild - a chance that may not be possible in years to come. It really is a priceless experience.
I loved that the cost is helping sustain the local community and conserve these amazing animals, giving them a safe and peaceful space to thrive.
it’s well worth paying a little extra for the English-speaking international guides. But I also really enjoyed my time exploring the forest with the Bunong guides, showing me their favourite spots and hidden gems, such as the Spirit Tree and waterfalls. They made lunch, cooked in a piece of bamboo by a waterfall - another first for me!
The night walks into the forest were a highlight too.
You really need to get stuck in and enjoy all Jahoo has to offer. It's authentic and the real Cambodia.
All the Jahoo staff were friendly and fun. Their passion was infectious. They looked after me so well, accommodating me at all times. The camp was great and clean, and the food was a taste of Bunong, delicious and freshly cooked.
After a day of trekking, sitting in the amazing bamboo lounge looking out to the forest with the sounds of nature as dusk fell will stay in my memory for a long time.
Visiting Jahoo was very special and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Thanks to Kyle, Kelly, and all the staff for making it such a wonderful experience! It’s certainly one that I will never forget.

The trip was quite interesting and quite informative, but also obscenely expensive. Aside from the price, I'd say it's worth going to Jahoo. If you consider the price, then think 3 times so you don't regret it later. At this price, the trip should be really great, and this one was just OK.

Glad you had a good experience at Jahoo!
But we regret your disappointment with the price.
We appreciate our pricing is at the higher end for wildlife watching experiences, but this is due to our revenue sharing with the indigenous community, ongoing wildlife research and gibbon habituation as well as our conservation interventions. All these activities are critical in developing the indigenous community, conserving wildlife, and protecting the forest.
You’ll be happy to know that all tour revenue is spent on these important activities!
Your tour ticket not only contributes to important conservation and social development impact, but it also included private 4x4 vehicle door to door service, 2x private indigenous guides, 1 x private English-speaking wildlife guide, exclusive access to the gibbons and the forest (no other guests to compete with for observations), meals, accommodation at the unique Bamboo Camp, and all wildlife, trekking and cultural activities.
I’m sorry if we didn’t communicate to you the impact of your visit in contributing to these important activities and didn’t meet your expectations on this occasion.
I’d love to hear any more specific feedback from you, if you’d be willing to share this with me via email booking@gibbon.life
Hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday in Mondulkiri and Cambodia!

I had an amazing stay with Jahoo. What an incredible place! The camp is beautiful, the staff very friendly, good local food, skilled guides and Keo Seima forest is beautiful! Got to see the gibbons, doucs, loris and the rare Germains peacock pheasant. Couldn't have wished for more. Thank you Jahoo!
Definitely recommend booking with Jahoo. It is the real authentic experience of wildlife trekking.

Our team were delighted to have helped you see the endemic and very elusive Germain's peacock pheasant, and the bar-bellied pitta, they're still celebrating about that now! haha
Glad you had a good time and saw some incredible wildlife!

We’re thinking about coming to Jahoo for the two night trip, as part of a two week holiday in Cambodia, so we will have big suitcases with us. Will this be a problem? Or can you safely leave your suitcases at the camp?

yes you can leave in your hut. The huts are not big but I am sure you can make it work. Hope that helps.
