Fondly remembered as last of the Greek Goddesses, Melina was a politician and tireless campaigner for cultural innovations. Here is a potent reflection of her many-sided life and careers.

Following a well-regarded period as actress and singer, she really left her enduring legacy when she entered the political arena.

A resolute campaigner on cultural issues she is best remembered for her striving to have the Elgin Marbles returned to Greece and was instrumental in the building of the super Acropolis Museum that has set aside room for the art works.

Another of her accolades was achieving the establishment of the institution of European Capital of Culture.

I grew up on the films of Melina and hearing about her in the US, so I was thrilled to find this small museum tribute to this truly amazing and multi-talented actress and political figure. The foundation/exhibition is housed in a beautiful building that is easy to find. Usually the entrance fee is a mere 2 euros but it was free the day we were there as another exhibit was being shown there. As a result, some of the Melina exhibition was not on display, much to my disappointment. I was pleased with what I did see, but did leave wishing I could have seen more. However, of what was there, you definitely get an idea of the woman - not only as an actress, but also as a political activist, of her career as Minister of Culture and definitely of her pride in her heritage. It would be lovely to see the Foundation expand this exhibit and continue to collect items related to Melina's career for posterity and for those who do not know who she to learn about this vibrant woman.

I stumbled onto this museum by accident. I *loved* Melina Mercouri and was thrilled to have found this place. I spent a whole afternoon there by myself, wandering from one exhibit to another, and went back again. It was fabulous! This site is forcing me to choose when I visited the museum and there is no option for when I was there, which was back in 2005. i just now saw that there is this TripAdvisor page for it.
